Announcing a brand new addition to our Francis Coppola Diamond Collection wines!
Winemaker’s
Notes
Popularized in northern Italy where the climate is cool and
seafood is abundant, Pinot Grigio is a varietal that requires a temperate
climate and delicate handling. Our Pinot Grigio is grown in the cool climate of
MontereyCounty, which has ideal growing
conditions for this grape. Picked in the early morning hours, fermented at cool
temperatures and finished in stainless steel, the Emerald Label Pinot Grigio is bright and crisp with an accent of minerals.
Monterey experienced an outstanding 2007 vintage, which was
fortuitous for our premier release of Diamond Collection Pinot Grigio. Budbreak
occurred later than normal due to a cold winter, yet in spite of the chilly
temperatures there was little precipitation. As a result, the vines were not
vigorous and produced fewer and smaller fruit clusters.
Pair our Pinot Grigio with: Lemon chicken
Shellfish
A variety of hors d’oeuvres.

Dry Creek
Valley
There are two methodologies for growing Zinfandel in Dry Creek
Valley. One consists of
traditional
farming practices, which includes the dry-farming of
head-trained, spur-pruned vines, that are quite
mature and severely thinned in the spring to produce
low yields. The other employs more modern
methods, including bilateral cordon, spur-pruned
on-wire trellising, drop irrigation, and carefully
manicured canopies. We source our Zinfandel grapes
from vineyards on the benchlands and hillsides,
which are farmed both ways. The combination of the
area’s climate, our vineyard sites, and the two
types of the farming methods used produces excellent
fruit with intensely concentrated flavor.

Francis Coppola Diamond Alicante Bouschet 2007 -- Why did we decide to make an Alicante Bouschet? Click here and let winemaker Corey Beck tell you the story.
Since its inception, the Francis Coppola Diamond
Collection has been an expansive endeavor to create consistently high-quality
wines that are pure expressions of each varietal. We seek out vineyard sites
across California,
which ensure superior grapes year-after-year, and we employ precise winemaking
techniques to showcase the true character of our fruit. This enterprise has
become a true labor of love. We invite you to share it with us.
Winemaker’s
Notes
During the years of Prohibition, there were legal loopholes
that allowed families to procure grapes and make limited quantities of table
wine. Most of the fruit was varietals we consider rare today, but they offered
wonderfully unique tasting experiences that many recall with great nostalgia.
As a child, Francis Coppola’s grandfather made homemade wine using Alicante
Bouschet grapes shipped in by . . .
Francis Coppola Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 -- The Label
To commemorate the special nature of these wines, our bottles feature a distinct label design. Six different playful configurations of letters, which comprise the Coppola name, were created by, literally, tossing 3-dimensional pieces of type into the air and capturing them in flight. Each is a one-of-a-kind expression as prized as the wine in the bottle.
Sam’s Vineyard
Alexander Valley is comprised of varied terrain, from mountains that are exposed to full and abundant sunlight, to the valley floor in the south, which is cooler and highly influenced by maritime weather conditions. Alluvial soils run the length of the valley, and many vineyards are punctuated by sedimentary stones, which retain heat and transfer warmth to the vines even when the sun cannot. Additionally, the fruit from this diverse appellation typically demonstrates great concentration and flavor. Sam’s Vineyard is situated in the eastern hillsides of the appellation on an extremely steep mountain-vineyard composed . . .

WINEMAKER’S
NOTES
This is our second year producing Diamond Collection
Cabernet Sauvignon. For a decade we’ve bottled Claret—a robust red blend
largely comprised of Cabernet—but we wanted to offer a single varietal Cabernet
Sauvignon as well in order to show off the elegance of our grapes.
We combine fruit from appellations as far north as El Dorado and as far south
as Paso Robles, where soils range from sandy clay loam to black volcanic obsidian.
Likewise, some of our vineyards experience a unique diurnal temperature
pattern; extremely hot days are tempered by very cool nights, which slows the
ripening process and enhances the flavor and complexity of the fruit.
The 2006 growing season was long and cool, allowing
the grapes to hang . . .
Francis Coppola Diamond Petite Sirah 2007 -- The Francis Coppola Diamond Collection began in 1997 as an ambitious endeavor to make wines of character and complexity at an affordable price. Sourced from California vineyards that not only have proven track records but are also managed according to our rigorous standards, Diamond Collection wines are classic California expressions that offer fruit-forward, multi-dimensional flavor and immediate drinkability. Our illustrious lineup includes eleven single-varietal wines, plus our flagship red proprietary blend, Claret. These wines are a true labor of love—we invite you to share them with us. Winemaker’s NotesMy grandfather, John Rolleri, was a Napa Valley grape grower back when the California wine industry was just gaining notoriety. His favorite grape was Petite Sirah, and because it had been a passion of his, I, too, developed a fondness for the varietal. Once I became a winemaker, I sought out prime Petite Sirah vineyards, and started experimenting with different winemaking techniques . . .
Francis Coppola Diamond Sauvignon Blanc 2007 -- What is the style of our Diamond Sauvignon Blanc? Click here to see what winemaker Corey Beck has to say. To create a light, fresh Sauvignon Blanc that displays intense fruit flavors and exceptional balance, we source grapes from three different appellations. Grapes that come from Napa give us juicy tropical fruit flavors, the Alexander Valley fruit provides a solid backbone of citrus, while Mendocino grapes contribute to the luscious aromatics in our wine. To keep this varietal bright and refreshing, we ferment and finish our wine exclusively in stainless steel.Food Pairings• Goat cheese and mixed greens• Baked Halibut• Spicy shrimp and rice
Francis Coppola Diamond Claret 2007 --
How did we "raise the
bar" on our new Claret? Click
here to see what winemaker Corey Beck has to say.
As of last year, we’ve been able to include estate-grown Merlot and Cabernet
Franc
in the blend, which also includes Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa,
Sonoma, and
El Dorado Counties. The small amounts of Malbec
and Petit Verdot we add help to
strengthen color, weight, and structure.
Our Claret is always elegant, but this year it’s a true show stopper; lush with
a beautiful tapestry of smooth tannins, intense flavor, and seductive aromas.
When paired with classic dishes such as beef stroganoff, leg of lamb or potato
gratin, you can create a sublime dining experience.

Bianco Pinot Grigio 2007 -- Four Stars! - Beverage DynamicsWinner of 3 Silver Medals in various 2008 Wine Competitions! What is the best way to enjoy our Bianco Pinot Grigio? Click here to hear what winemaker Corey Beck recommends.
The 2007 vintage of Francis Coppola Presents Bianco
Pinot Grigio is a zesty white wine
with light, delicate flavors that are perfect for afternoon sipping or pairing
with fun, easy meals such as Chinese take-out, grilled shrimp, fruit and
cheeses or mixed salads.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
• Bianco Pinot Grigio is fermented and aged entirely
in stainless steel to preserve the wine’s fresh fruit flavors and aromas. A
small amount of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are added to the final blend to
give Bianco more fullness and complexity.
• We source our grapes from two different California appellations: Pinnacles Bench in Monterey, a cool climate region with coastal influences;
and Clarksburg, an area near Lodi, which has very warm weather. By
combining fruit that matured . . .

WINEMAKER’S NOTES
When people ask us where the best Zinfandel is grown,
we aren’t quite sure what to say because there are so many spectacular regions
where this varietal thrives. Our Diamond Zinfandel captures the essence of
several different appellations, which when blended together create this unique
and complex wine. From our Hog’s Canyon vineyard in Paso Robles, fruit achieves
a high level of concentration due to extremely low rainfall and summer
temperatures that exceed 95º. At the other end of the appellation, we use a
vineyard comprised of gravely clay loam soils similar to those of Australia’s Barossa Valley.
Our Sonoma
County vineyards provide
exceptionally high-quality fruit, which ripens evenly and exudes immense
character and flavor. To add an extra layer of complexity, we blend . . .
